And then there were/are (?) those ginormous pencil sharpeners attached to the wall that, when you use them, sound like a freight train barreling through the room. Yeah, that would freak out your modern day kid.
Sad but true. I hate pencils, for the record. I have one mechanical pencil that I use once a year, when my agent sends me the "final pass pages" of my book and I'm required to make corrections in pencil! That's it.
I wonder how many kids really don't know?
ReplyDeletesince no first grader has the ability to type on a keyboard with enough skill, I'd say all of them know what a pencil is.

DeleteSadly, this is true. Both of my girls have horrible handwriting, and they've even done away with learning cursive in school.
